I’m still here. Being back to school is already taking its toll. After getting back from vacation, it was almost like we took a vacation from Zomgee.
I figure- what better time than to have another concept contest? Take a gander at the following vid and see if you can guess what our theme is:
How much can we trust him?

For those of you not paying attention to current events, last night President Obama gave his first address to a joint session of Congress which once a President has been in office a year or more is known as the State of the Union Address. If you got a chance to listen to it, you may have heard a lot of things you agree with no matter which side of the isle you sit. This is because, as is usual, the State of the Union address is generally crafted to appeal to a wide audience. In this case it was well known beforehand that Obama’s speech would be modeled after those of Ronald Reagan. This should seem odd to you since the ideology of President Obama and President Reagan are about as polar opposite as is physically possible and does seem unlikely that the ideas of socialism could be presented under the shroud of conservatism but if you heard the president’s speech last night that’s exactly what you witnessed.

The school that I go to is… odd. Things such as the one-man Karl Marx in modern culture play tend to pop up among the “free-thinkers”. You’ll also find various calls to communism, 57 original flavors of eastern religions, people who walk around in bare feet (yes, bathrooms are frequented by them..), and the largest population of adult males aged 17-24 who don’t shower. Ever.
So I wasn’t exactly surprised when I saw this at school: (continue reading…)
Bold Faced Lies
by HT on Feb.18, 2009, under Food & Holiday, News & Politics
I just finished watching an episode of the fairly new Fox show “Lie to Me” where there are several experts who can tell by so-called micro-expressions whether or not a person is lying and while I’m not here to recommend the show it has got me thinking a bit more about lying. Lately lying has been a theme that just seems to crop up more and more. There’s lots of talk about A-Rod and if he’s telling the whole truth about steroids and there’s been tons of talk about Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich and his bold faced lies about selling a senate seat. Normally I’d talk about how President Obama went on national TV and lied straight to the American people about the stimulus bill, claiming that it absolutely had no pork and that it was a targeted bill at timely solutions. Today, however, I think I’d like to mention the sneaky lie…by McDonald’s.
I didn’t feel like it

Many of you remember a year or two ago when I had lotrfanatic.com up and running and I was posting once a month if you were lucky and then this whole past year where I posted very infrequently on zomgee.com. Why do you suppose that was? It certainly wasn’t out of a lack of things to write about. We’ve had more blog ranting fodder in the past year and a half than we’ve had in quite a while. It wasn’t because I had become less informed or because I didn’t care anymore. It was because I had become disillusioned with the system that had brought us here, and just lost the desire to write about it.
