As I tweeted this morning, somewhere along the line we've forgotten Hamas is a terrorist organization. Also consider: * Israel governed Gaza until 2005 * Palestine isn't a country * It doesn't take a lot to realize that Palestinian is a derivation of Philistine * Israel still LEGALLY has control over Gaza airspace and waterfront * It has been stated that Hamas doesn't have access to the level of technology/sheer numbers for the rockets it has been using (which aren't just welded pipes by the way) and therefore outside supply is very likely * Israel is surrounded by very hostile neighbors, which routinely attack In all of this, I'm impressed with the level of military might and power that Israel has, as evidenced by the newly-recreated country (less than 30 years old) repelling invaders (Egypt/Syria) in the 70s. This has been partly due to the US's huge amount of arms it gives/sells Israel, but that doesn't explain everything..
