Gimmy Day

by OhYo on Jan.30, 2009, under Uncategorized

Ever like how when you’re playing a game, and someone decides to make up a crazy house-rule that helps them specifically? I do, especially when it’s me making it; it’s what I’m about to do right now. It’s even better when the rule is reciprocal, which is bonus. This will certainly help my case (because of my lack of post last week) and perhaps others in the future…

The Zomgee Bubble

by HT on Jan.28, 2009, under Humor, News & Politics, satire

During the past year Zomgee.com has had fairly steady posting and while we may not have updated as frequently as some may have preferred, the site was at least consistent. At the end of 2008 everything changed and the evil CEOs of Zomgee decided to get greedy and push for more and more posting. Expectations were set high, and the post volume increased likewise. The greed could only be fueled for so long and I’m afraid that over the last week we may have seen the Zomgee bubble burst. (continue reading…)

Inaugural Ideals

by HT on Jan.22, 2009, under News & Politics

Tuesday January 20th, 2009 was a day of historic proportions. Why? Because for the 44th time in our nation’s history we had a peaceful transfer of leadership. There were no riots, no assassination attempts, no military coup, and other than some rude behavior to our former president there was relatively little trouble at all the entire day. We should all stop and be thankful that we have such days. But Tuesday is over, and the time for action has begun. You see it’s our job to hold our elected leaders accountable for what they say and do, and now that President Obama is doing things I feel compelled to hold him accountable for them. Twitter- going places never imagined

by Dan on Jan.20, 2009, under Uncategorized

Much has been said about this service called Twitter. It’s essentially a microblogging, opt-in platform where you subscribe to people and get their updates delivered in feed form. When you post, those people following you receive your updates. Now that those details are out of the way…

November 26th through 29th were horrifying days in Mumbai, India. The city was in disarray as terrorists had taken over and bombed trainstations and hotels. The center of conflict was in the Taj Mahal Hotel. Within, guests had barricaded themselves in rooms, the kitchen, and other hiding spots. Some communicated via cell phone calls, texts, and emails, but a major outlet was Twitter. Hostages sent tweets out to inform loved ones and co-workers that they were ok, if they were injured, places to stay away from, and supplies that their hospital needed. By now, most of the original tweets are so buried that they are hard to find.

Now take what I’ve just relayed about Mumbai, and imagine how twitter would have affected incidents and our responses to them..

Invasion of Poland/France – “Uh.. guys, German tanks just rolled past the border, run!”

Pearl Harbor – “Japanese planes just flew overhead.. strange.. Seem to be heading for Pearl Harbor”

D-Day – “wow”

The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki – “So.. the city next to me just blew up. I’m thinking we should take cover”

And thats just WW2. Its weird to think how history could have been drastically altered by one simple web application… Keep that in mind next time your thumbs tap away on your phone updating your status..

(Edit: I actually did have this finished last night, but forgot to push the Publish button.. doh!)

by OhYo on Jan.16, 2009, under News & Politics

Hey you there! Stop paying attention to anything but me because right now is my only chance to get everyones attention! Extra Extra, read all about it! An airplane crashes on American soil* baffling experts on how this could happen to our beloved and ever-perfect transportation system. Not only are we going to make this story seem like it is equal or more important than a terrorist attack, we wouldn’t dare giving you any gumption to change the channel.
(Epic Edit: Off Topic: Me skiing in pooh suit.)
