Project: Carputer – Part 3
by Dan on Aug.04, 2008, under Carputer
Spent the past few days putting way too much time and effort into the desk. I’ll spare you the nitty-gritty right now and just pass on a picture and some details.

As you can see, I have the monitor in and set to go. After countless hours, I finally found a feasible way to mount the drives in the console. I cleaned it up a bit and filed down some rough edges. All I have left to do is the body work, ventilation, and hooking up the computer.
Speaking of computer, I have it all built and set to go. Here are the specs.
- Antec Three Hundred case
- AMD 6000+ 3.0 ghz dual core processor
- 650W 3-rail power supply
- ATI HD4870 video card
- 500GB hard drive
- 4GB RAM (2×2GB)
- 2 DVD RW drives
- Super multi drive (card reader, eSATA, fan controls, USB ports)
- Fan controller
- 17″ Dell widescreen monitor
That’s all for now. Keep on going with the photoshopping contest!

Those drives seem to fit nicely. What’s that brownish stuff around it; i don’t remember it being there. This will be decent when its finished, are you considering eventually developing more into the ‘chassis’ aspect, like on the sides n stuff?

brown stuff is a wood veneer I’m using just to fill in the space. It doesn’t look too bad and I don’t want to spend more time on it.
As for the sides.. they will get done. One step at a time.

Too bad there’s only enough space for a 17″ monitor.
Nice setup though.
